Every time you think the corporatocracy’s manufactured anti-Semitism hysteria cannot possibly get more absurd, they somehow manage to outdo themselves. OK, stay with me now, because this is a weird one.
Apparently, American Hitler and his cronies are conspiring with some secret group of “Jewish leaders” to stop British Hitler from becoming prime minister and wiping out all the Jews in Great Britain. Weird, right? But that’s not the weird part, because maybe American Hitler wants to wipe out all the Jews in Great Britain himself, rather than leaving it to British Hitler … Hitlers being notoriously jealous regarding their genocidal accomplishments.
No, the weird part is that everyone knows that American Hitler does not make a move without the approval of Russian Hitler, who is also obsessed with wiping out the Jews, and with destroying the fabric of Western democracy. So why would Russian Hitler want to let American Hitler and his goons thwart the ascendancy of British Hitler, who, in addition to wanting to wipe out all the Jews, also wants to destroy democracy by fascistically refunding the NHS, renationalizing the rail system, and so on?
It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, does it? In any event, here’s the official story.
In “a recording leaked to The Washington Post,” and then flogged by the rest of the corporate media, Reichsminister des Auswärtigen, Mike Pompeo, told a group of unnamed “Jewish leaders” that American Hitler (i.e., Donald Trump) will “push back” (i.e., intervene) against British Hitler (i.e., Jeremy Corbyn) to protect the lives of Jews in Great Britain if British Hitler becomes prime minister (and is possibly already doing so now). The identities of these “Jewish leaders” have not been disclosed by the corporate media, presumably in order to protect them from being murdered by Corbyn’s Nazi hit squad. Whoever they were, they wanted to know whether American Hitler and his fascist cabinet were “willing to work with [them] to take on actions if life becomes very difficult for Jews” after Jeremy Corbyn seizes power, declares himself Führer of Communist Britannia, and orders the immediate invasion of France.
To anyone who has been closely following the corporate media’s relentless coverage of Jeremy Corbyn’s Nazi Death Cult (i.e., the UK Labour Party) and the global Anti-Semitism Pandemic, it comes as no real surprise that this group of “Jewish leaders” (whoever they are) would want to stop him from becoming prime minister. I doubt that their motives have much to do with fighting anti-Semitism, or anything else specifically “Jewish,” but … well, I’m kind of old-fashioned that way. I still believe there’s a fundamental difference between “the Jews” and the global capitalist ruling classes.
I realize that both the neoliberal establishment and the neo-fascist fringe disagree with me, and that both are determined (for different reasons) to conflate the two in the public’s mind, but that’s my take, and I’m sticking to it. I don’t think the world is controlled by “the Jews.” I think it’s controlled by global capitalism.
Go ahead, call me a conspiracy theorist. Here’s how the anti-Semitism panic in the United Kingdom looks to me.
After nearly 40 years of privatization and restructuring, British society is on the brink of being permanently transformed into the type of savage, neo-feudal, corporatist nightmare that the USA already is. The global capitalist ruling classes are extremely pleased about this state of affairs. They would now like to finish up privatizing Britain, so they can get on with privatizing the rest of Europe. The last thing they need at this critical juncture is Jeremy Corbyn to become prime minister and start attempting to remake their nascent neoliberal marketplace into a society … you know, where healthcare is guaranteed to all, you don’t need a mortgage to buy a train ticket, and people don’t have to eat out of trash bins.
Unlike in the USA, where there is no functional political Left, and where the non-parliamentary “two-party system” is almost totally controlled by the corporatocracy, in the UK, there are still a few old-fashioned socialists, and they have taken back the Labour Party from the neoliberal Blairite stooges that had been managing the transformation of Britain into the aforementioned neo-feudal nightmare. Jeremy Corbyn is the leader of these socialists. So the corporatocracy needs to destroy him, take back control of the Labour Party, and turn it back into a fake left party, like the Democratic Party in the USA, so they can concentrate on crushing the right-wing populists. Thus, they need to Hitlerize Corbyn, so they can fold him into their official narrative, Democracy vs. The Putin-Nazis.
And, see, this is what makes the corporatocracy’s War on Populism so seemingly psychotic … at least to anyone paying attention.
In the USA, the populist insurgency is primarily a right-wing phenomenon (because, again, there is no Left to speak of). Thus, the neoliberal ruling classes are focused on Hitlerizing Donald Trump, and stigmatizing the millions of Americans who voted for him as a bunch of Nazis. Hitlerizing Trump has been ridiculously easy (he almost Hitlerizes himself), but the ultimate goal is to delegitimize the populist sentiment that put him into office. That sentiment is primarily neo-nationalist. So it’s a one-front counter-insurgency op (i.e., neoliberalism versus neo-nationalism).
In the UK, things are not that simple. There, the neoliberal ruling classes are waging a counter-insurgency op against populist forces on two major fronts: (1) the Brexiters (i.e., nationalism); and (2) the Corbynists (i.e., socialism). They’re getting hit from both the left and right, which is screwing up the official narrative (according to which the “enemies of democracy” are supposed to be right-wing neo-nationalists). So, as contradictory and absurd as it sounds, they needed to conflate both left and right populism into one big scary Hitlerian enemy. Thus, they needed to Hitlerize Corbyn. Presto … Labour Anti-Semitism crisis!
Now, anyone who is isn’t a gibbering idiot knows that Jeremy Corbyn is not an anti-Semite and the Labour Party is not a hive of Nazis. It’s a testament to the power of the corporate media that such a statement even needs to be made … but, of course, that’s the point of the smear campaign the neoliberal corporate media have been waging for the last three years.
Smear campaigns are simple and effective. The goal is to force your target and his allies into proclaiming things like, “I am not an anti-Semite,” or “I’ve never had sex with underage boys,” or whatever smear you want to force them to deny. You don’t have to prove your target guilty. You’re just trying to conjure up a “reality” in which every time someone thinks of your target they associate him with the content of your smears.
The corporate media have done just that, to Jeremy Corbyn, to Donald Trump, to Putin, and to assorted lesser figures. They did it to Sanders in 2016. They are doing it now to Tulsi Gabbard. The goal is not only to smear these targets, but also, and more so, to conjure a “world” that reifies the narrative of their smears … a binary “good versus evil” world, a world in which whatever they want to accuse their targets of being linked to (e.g., terrorism, fascism, racism, or whatever) is the official enemy of all that is good.
Since the Brexit referendum and the election of Trump, the ruling classes have conjured up a world where “democracy” is perpetually under attack by a global conspiracy of “Russians” and “Nazis” (just as they previously conjured up a world where it was perpetually under attack by “terrorists”). They have conjured up a post-Orwellian reality in which “democracy” (i.e., global capitalism) is the only alternative to “neo-fascism” (i.e., anything opposed to global capitalism).
And this is why Corbyn had to be Hitlerized, and why Putin, Trump, Assad, Gabbard, Assange, the “Yellow Vest” protesters in France, and anyone else opposing global neoliberalism has to be Hitlerized. Socialism, nationalism … it makes no difference, not to the global capitalist ruling classes. There are always only two sides in these “worlds” that the ruling classes conjure up for us, and there can be only one official enemy. The official enemy of the moment is “fascism.” Therefore, all the “bad guys” are Hitler, or Nazis, or racists, or anti-Semites, or some other variation of Hitler.
The fact that this “reality” they have conjured up for us is completely psychotic makes it no less real. And it is only going to get more insane until the corporatocracy restores “normality.” So, go ahead, if you consider yourself “normal,” and try to force your mind to believe that Jews are no longer safe in Great Britain, or in Germany, or France, or the USA, and that Donald Trump is a Russian asset, and is also literally Adolf Hitler, and an anti-Semitic white supremacist who is conspiring with Israel and Saudi Arabia in their campaign to destroy Iran and Syria, which are allies of his Russian masters, as is Venezuela, which he is also menacing, and that Jeremy Corbyn’s secret plan is to turn the UK into Nazi Germany, with the support of Trump, who is trying to destroy him, and that the Yellow Vests are Russian-backed fascists, and that Julian Assange is a rapist spy who conspired with Russia to get Trump elected, which is why Trump wants to prosecute him, just as soon as he finishes wiping out the Jews, or protecting them from Jeremy Corbyn, or from Iran, or brainwashing Black Americans into reelecting him in 2020 with a handful of Russian Facebook ads.
Go ahead, try to reconcile all that … or whatever, don’t. Just take whatever medication you happen to be on, crank up CNN, MSNBC, or any other corporate media channel, and report me to the Internet Police for posting dangerous “extremist” content. You know, in your heart, I probably deserve it.

I find that confusing. Why was the state of Israel founded, if not to provide a perfectly safe haven for Jewish people from all around the world? (Although it does seem a trifle odd that it should only have been founded three years after virtually the only people who were threatening to kill Jews had themselves been killed or locked up, and deprived of all power to harm anyone).
The government of Israel has loudly and officially proclaimed that Israel is a Jewish state – which luckily is in no way nationalistic or racist – and that every Jewish person in the world is entitled to Israeli citizenship.
So why do so many Jewish people choose rashly to expose themselves to danger by remaining abroad, when they could go to the national home and be perfectly safe?
I only ask because I want to know.

To justify the apartheid Zionist state and its brutality against Palestinians, the specter of antisemitism and the “trope” of Jews as eternally oppressed by dark forces that wish to destroy them has to be kept alive in western public consciousness. The whole antisemitism “scandal” in the UK is 100% propaganda theatre and nothing about it is logical or makes sense.
The media rails on about the mild, rather milquetoasty, social democrat Corbyn as some sort of radical leftist Jew hater who is an existential threat to Jews in the UK and the evidence they provide to back up this extraordinary and shocking claim is….well, nothing. Some quotes and statements taken out of context and his advocacy for Palestinian rights amounts to less than a broken water pistol planted on him by his detractors but the Guardian et al. act like it’s a smoking gun with his prints all over it. It’s so transparently phony and ludicrous it defies comprehension. So if you’re looking for logical connections in all this you won’t find them.
Social psychology and the human instinct to identify with a tribe being what it is, I am sure some UK Jews have convinced themselves they are in mortal danger, or will be if Corbyn becomes PM. But the vast majority of his critics (many, if not most, are not even Jewish) are calculating liars who know very well it is BS but who see this as a struggle for power and go along with it The media, unsurprisingly, instead of calling them out, treating them like deluded cranks or gently suggesting a round of psychological counseling, takes their “concerns” at face value. Anyone who questions that validity is jumped on as a fascist, antisemitic, misogynist (when applicable) piece of trash. I have experienced and seen this on Twitter many times. Once again identity politics problvides the cover. A typical exchange goes something like this:
Person A: “As a Jew and a woman Corbyn’s misogynistic antisemitism is very real to me, who are you to tell me it’s not?”
Person B: “I never said it’s not real. I am simply asking you to please give me a specific example so I put into some sort of context.”
A: “Are you calling me a liar? Typical Corbyn supporting far-left fascist.”
B: “Accusing the Labour leader of being an antisemite is a serious charge and asking for evidence isn’t unrea—“
A: “OMG, because I am a Jewish woman I must be deluded or a liar ? Wow…just wow.”
B: “You said that, not me. Why can’t you tell me what happened? It’s obviously affected you deeply and the public deserves to be forewarned, don’t you think?”
A: “I experienced a vile and vicious attack on my identity as a woman and a Jew. If it is real to me IT IS REAL. Full-stop. That is all you need to know. Now I am DONE talking to a misogynistic antisemite like you. Goodbye.”
These kind of exchanges are extremely common. People who loudly claim to be victims of a vague ism, and deploy this formula, are not arguing in good faith. It is a power game. The “victim” categorically refuses to elaborate and simply plugs their identity credentials into the relevant slots while proceeding to smear their interlocutor with as many hyperbolic, thought stopping accusations as possible for having the audacity to ask for basic details.
The goal here is to discredit and shutdown any challengers no matter how mild or respectful. If you take the accusers at face value you won’t get any answers or clarification but you will be smeared as a Hitlerian bigot par excellence. If you were to ask a vocal Zionist who complains about the dangers facing Jews in the UK, US, Germany or wherever they happen to live why they don’t move to Israel if it’s so unsafe in these countries you can expect a bunch of baloney ending with you being cast in the role of insufferable Jew hater. Never mind that most diaspora Jews have no intention of ever moving to Israel and that an increasing minority reject Zionism altogether.
That kind of stuff belongs in the realm of facts and logic, not in the murky world of ideological propaganda and psychological mindfu*kery in the name of power and influence. As our host and many ohers point out, conflating Zionism and “the Jews” was a standard far-right ploy but it is now mainstream policy in every western country and aggressively promoted by the state of Israel and its deep pocketed lobbyists. In a recent interview with Jimmy Dore, Norman Finkelstein pointed out how Zionists are creating the very reality they claim to be so afraid of. The far-right caricature of the “über-powerful Jew” who has western governments in his pocket and the ability to outlaw speech he finds offensive and change laws he doesn’t like was easily debunked by pointing out that Zionism and Israeli lobbying are not synonymous with Jews. But Zionists and consecutive Israeli governments have worked hard to erase this distinction.
Sorry for the long post…final point. It’s surreally fascinating how what was just yesterday considered backwards and dangerous thinking…like judging people’s worthiness and virtue by characteristics they are born with and have no control over, and deliberately conflating an ideology with all people who have the same ethnicity, gender etc. as its proponents, is now not only mainstream, but aggressively promoted by people who “self-identify” as leftists. This is why I think there is more going on here than just a political propaganda war.

I just drove through LA again, up the I-5 to Sacramento, the capital of the great state of California. The amount of homelessness, poverty and desperation visible as soon as one exits the freeways is literally stunning. Clearly there is no need to “wait” for the apocalypse to arrive as it’s existence is a daily presence here in southern California.
As my wife an I watched a recent film about (ironically – Nazi concentration camps) I couldn’t help but notice that my mind instantly made the connection between the Nazi death camps and our own death camps on the streets. The same traumatized ragged figures shuffling about in slow motion eating out of dumpsters and living behind capitalism’s invisible walls of barbed wire and rendering them invisible. The homeless die on average 17.5 years before the rest of the population, from infectious diseases, hypothermia and tuberculosis, and illnesses “related to smoking” according to one study – notice the researches didn’t say “lack of healthcare, lack of shelter and lack of adequate nutrition” – no they died because of “smoking.” Yeah, right.
One can be forgiven for seeing these ever growing encampments of those superfluous to the neoliberal order as capitalism’s own death camps. Efficiently run death camps, the “invisible hand of the market” being “miraculous” and all – (no walls, no infrastructure needed, no guards, no overhead). And oh so efficient in both containing our own societal shame while blaming those who occupy the cardboard boxes, tarps and tents that grow daily. Our ever growing death camp population waiting their turn to die has now simply become an accepted part of the American landscape. One can’t but surmise that the ubiquity of our ever growing capitalist death camps is perhaps the most powerful incentive for Americans who still have a roof over their heads and food on the table to look for yet a second or third job, rather than risk the abyss they see around them growing daily everyday.

The homeless situation up here in Vancouver (Canuckistan) where I’m living atm isn’t quite as dire as in the SFO area and SoCal but it’s pretty bad nonetheless. Housing is unaffordable, full-time jobs scarce, low wages, the whole neoliberal 9 yards. My friends here tell me that a decade ago homelessness and drug addiction were politically contentious issues and “progressive” mayoral and city council candidates would promise to “end homelessness” and “do something” about drug addiction….but that all stopped. Now huge numbers of homeless people camping in parks and on sidewalks, addicts ODing on fentanyl left and right are seen as inevitable and nothing can really be done about it except treating the desperate and destitute with “respect” as per identity politics. Hey, the desperately poor and obscenely rich are just part of a “diverse” society and deserve equal respect as individuals.
Americans who think Canada and the EU are somehow immune from the neoliberal virus are badly mistaken. Both places have been moving toward the Anglo-American social Darwinist model of capitalism. Even in Scandinavian countries, much fetishized by American liberals, the trend has been moving away from social democracy.
Putting all hope on a Corbyn or a Sanders is a fool’s errand. The best they can do is tinker around the edges for a while before they are removed or coopted in other ways. Everyone who supports should also ask themselves what happens if they lose or get taken out of play?
If we want change it will take effort and sacrifice. Voting every 4-5 years, posting stuff on Facebook and following alternative news on YouTube are all passive activities that are all but useless in affecting tangible change. What’s needed is a vision of a society beyond neoliberal capitalism that is not a rehash of the past.
Without a motivating vision of a desirable future to rally around even mass protests can only disrupt temporarily until they get boot stomped by the state or fade away.

As if to prove your point, Hopkins, the same things have went on in other influential European countries where there is no involvement/discussion of Jewry/Israel. The pattern is changeless: leftist parties have been bought, replacing the old leaders and party cadres with new characters styles the same as TV series actors. The “help” from the hand from behind was obvious… but it has to be added that, when offered the choice between the old cadres (professorial and scholarly types, highly acute minds whether one likes them or not) and the new “prepared” ones, the voters promptly wiped the former off the political scene without much convincing being needed. Lol.

That the sheer batshit craziness of this narrative is swallowed by people who consider themselves leftist or “anti-capitalist” is a testament to the power of propaganda. It can literally get people to stop thinking and blindly believe a completely backasswards and logically impossible narrative.
The left has been destroyed by identity politics which has them “fighting” abstractions like ‘racism’, ‘misogyny’ and whatnot by policing speech and thought and destroying the lives and reputations of anyone who breeches this week’s speech codes.
They never stop and think about why the corporate media and neoliberal politicians so enthusiastically embrace identity politics and whether it actually does anything to reduce bigotry or promote understanding between people.
The really insane thing is that neoliberal identity politics is actually ideologically aligned with their white supremacist opponents. They both agree that the most important thing about a person is the traits they are born with (ethnicity/race, gender, sexual orientation) and that these determine their worthiness as human beings. They simply disagree over who gets to be the superior specimen of human and who gets to play the role of untermensch. And as history shows, things always work out well in societies split along these lines.
I do however think there is more to the present craziness then only ruling class propaganda. It plays a significant role in whipping up hysteria, but what if the societal schizophrenia is also a symptom of a civilization coming of the rails? The contradictions between conventional wisdom (that we are free and democratic societies that provide everyone with prosperity and a quality of life that is unequaled in history, that we are all living longer, earning more and have fewer existential worries than ever and that this is good as it has ever been etc. etc.) and the reality people are living and seeing in front of them, e.g. the huge numbers of nomadic homeless people, unaffordable housing and other basics, precarious employment and stagnating wages and no hope of anything getting better anytime soon, puts immense stress on individuals and as anyone who has read a psych 101 textbook knows repressed stress and cognitive dissonance gets expressed in ways that remian under the level of consciousness. Add to that the constant government fear mongering and “warnings” about evil foreigners and nazi infiltrators and you get a jaded, stressed out and paranoid society.
What if the nationalists (and perhaps a few Corbyn-style leftists) keep winning and the neoliberal global capitalists keep losing legitimacy and elections? What if the US continues declining and China and Russia get stronger? What if a drought or some other climate related “act of god” creates a few million refugees or mass starvation? It’s pretty much guaranteed that some or all of these scenarios will play out in the next few decades.
We aleady have a surveillance state to spot and “predict” threats to “national security” and a totalitarian police state framework to disappear anyone who gets labeled a “national security” threat. Right now it’s still hidden in the background…that won’t always be the case. A permanent record of everyone’s online history makes it easy to concoct a reason to blow Joe Citizen’s door off its hinges at 3am, burlap sack his head, pull his pants down and stick a needle with a tranquilizer into his ass cheek (CIA rendition procedure) and disappear him down a super max memory hole.
The powers that be will never give up without a fight.

CJ while I don’t believe Corbyn to be an anti-semite (anti-Israel, yes), I do take issue with this statement. To write this is to ignore the shootings in synagogues and other anti-semitic (the real kind, not the stuff they accuse Corbyn and Omar of) desecrations of synagogues, cemetaries and religious schools throughout the west, each of which is on the rise. Statements like this, while intended to counter the Israel Uber Alles crowd in the US and UK that wield accusations of anti-semitism to silence critique of Israel, also serve to legitimize the real threat of anti-semitism which has been empirically proven to be on the rise.
